Services set for McAlester News-Captial designer Dawnyal Hill

Dawnyal Graham Hill, an award-winning page designer at the McAlester News-Capital, died August 17, 2025. She was 52.

Services will be held Friday, August 22, at 4:00 p.m. at the Lamar Community Center in Lamar, Oklahoma, under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home.

Dawnyal was born June 20, 1973, in Holdenville.

She attended Oklahoma State University and later received a bachelor’s degree from Cameron University.

Dawnyal worked for many years at Holdenville Daily News and The Eufaula Indian Journal. For the past 12 years, she worked at the McAlester News-Capital, where she received awards from the Oklahoma Press Association in newspaper design.

She is survived by her children: Lillian, William and Nathaniel; her mother, Gwen, of Carson; two brothers, Jeremy Graham of Lamar, and Dustin Graham of Lawton; three uncles and three aunts; and a host of other relatives and friends.
