Services for former Atoka publisher Louise Cain

LOUISE HIGHT CAIN, a lifetime resident of Atoka passed away peacefully in Durant on July 4, 2025, at the age of 84.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 11 at Brown's Funeral Chapel, 718 W 13th St, Atoka, OK.

Louise was born to Jewell and Ellen (Nix) Hight on Dec. 2, 1940, and graduated from Atoka High School in 1958. 

She married Foster Frederick Cain on Dec. 2, 1976, and enjoyed 28 years of marriage prior to his death in 2004. 

Louise worked over 50 years in the Oklahoma newspaper industry, only retiring as publisher of the Atoka County Times in 2023 having published over 2,500 issues. 

When not working, she enjoyed being active with friends and family.  She was a member of the Atoka First Baptist Church for many years and served as a Sunday school teacher.  She enjoyed spending time in her RV and cooking excellent meals for her family and friends.

Louise was proceeded in death by her parents, Jewell and Ellen Hight, her husband Foster Cain, her special companion David Crouch, her brother Robert Howard, niece Robyn Lampkin and daughter Linda Linscott.  

Louise is survived by her son Mark Dale Cain; granddaughter Mattlyn Ross and husband Brandon as well as great-grandson Rhys; grandsons Gavin Foster Cain and Ethan Hight Linscott and wife Saranah, nephew Neil Howard, and numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends.
