How to Join OPA
Become a member of OPA and
Support Oklahoma's News Publications and Online Media.
We help our members succeed through legislative advocacy, networking and information sharing, revenue generation and professional development.
NOTE: The current membership voted in June 2022 to change the membership classifications to those listed below. The approval review process requires at least one month before a new membership is fully active. It is based on when the Board
of Directors will next meet as well as successful completion of a 20-day protest period (per our by-laws).

OPA offers multiple types of membership:

Legal Newspaper Membership
- Newspapers defined as legal publications by the statutes of the State of Oklahoma and therefore qualified to publish public notices. (View Qualifications Title 25, Okla. Statute 106)
Includes newspapers that are published on a daily, semi-weekly or weekly basis.
- Annual Membership Dues: One full page of advertising at the local rate + 2% of advertising revenue placed by Oklahoma Press Services in your newspaper in the previous calendar year.

General News Media Membership
- Publishes content principally devoted to the dissemination of original local news and local editorial content of general public interest.
- Print publications shall have been continuously published, no less than monthly, for 12 months prior to the date of application. Digital publications must be updated no less than weekly and
have been continually published for 12 months prior to the date of application.
- Download the membership application to view the complete list of criteria for eligibility.
- Annual Membership Dues: Base dues based on city population of publication headquarters (see page 2 of application) plus 2% of advertising revenue placed by Oklahoma Press Service in your publication in the previous calendar year.
Non-Profit organizations receive 25% discount on base dues.

Affiliate News Media Membership
- Any print or digital news-based publication that serves specific scientific, religious, philanthropic, educational, labor, agricultural, veteran, fraternal, hobby or similar organization
- Annual Membership Dues: $200

Strategic Partner Membership
- Any person, corporation or organization engaged in furnishing machinery, equipment, supplies or services to members.
- Annual membership Dues: $400 Corporate / $200 Non-Profit

Individual Professional Membership
- Any person who is a student, newspaper professional, news media professional, or otherwise qualified individual.
- Annual Membership Dues: $150 for Professionals; $50 for Students

Retired Membership
- Any person who was previously engaged in the association or worked for an association member but is no longer active.
- Annual Membership Dues: $75

Staff Members (for Website Access only)
- Individual staff members of companies
or organizations that are members of the OPA are assigned a "staff
member" role for use on this website.
- It is not an official membership
of the OPA.
