Services set for Neville Hancock

Neville Hancock, longtime publisher of the Hobart Democrat-Chief, died October 20, 2020. She was 91.
A graveside service is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Saturday, October 24, 2020, at Hobart Rose Cemetery, Hwy. 183, under the direction of Ray and Martha’s Funeral Home.
Because of safety concerns surrounding Covid-19, there will not be a church service. The family requests that those who choose to attend, please practice social distancing and wear a mask.

Neville was born Feb. 26, 1929, on a farm north of Cooperton.
After graduating from Hobart High School in 1949, she attended the University of Oklahoma and was a few hours short of graduation form OU when she joined her husband, Joe, who was stationed in Germany with the U.S. Army.
After returning to Hobart in 1953, the Hancocks both began working at the Democrat-Chief.
Neville became a columnist, writing Neville’s News on a daily basis until the paper became a weekly in 1988.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joe in 2014.
Neville is survived by her daughter Mollie Nagel, and sons Walter Joe Hancock, Jr. and Todd Hancock, all of Hobart; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
