ONG-OPA Column & Editorial Contest
Enter and Win a $100 Check from Oklahoma Natural Gas!
- Each month, submit your entry using the form below. Attachments should be in .pdf format.
- Entries may also be emailed (full-page tearsheet) to amarshall@okpress.com. Include the author’s name, name of publication, date of publication and category entered (column or editorial).
- All entries for the previous month must be at the OPA office by the 15th of the current month.
- Only ONE editorial and/or ONE column per writer per month will be accepted.
- Winners will receive a Certificate of Achievement, a $100 check and the column or editorial may be published in The Oklahoma Publisher. Annual Sweepstakes winners will receive a plaque, a $200 check and may have the column or editorial published in
The Publisher.
Entries must have been previously published in print or on the publication's website.
Staff at all OPA legal newspaper and general news media member publications as well as Individual members are eligible to compete.
Although OPA selects representative contest winners’ work for use in the monthly ad appearing in The Oklahoma Publisher, the views expressed in winning columns and editorials are those of the writers and don’t necessarily reflect the Company’s opinions.
Definition of an Editorial:
An article that persuades, informs and/or expresses an opinion of those in control of the publication on a matter of current interest, such as a local, state or national issue.
Personal columns may be entered if each is limited to one subject and fulfill the other qualifications of an editorial.

Definition of a Column:
Content that expresses a writer's own personal opinion or experience(s). It is usually written in first person. Columns may be humorous or serious and should include the writer's byline.
A column is not a news article.
